More Kindness, Less Judgement

Unfortunately about a month ago my husband was sentenced to federal prison...The past month has been the most difficult time of my life without him. My world has been turned upside down. Trying to navigate the system as a family member of someone who is incarcerated is incredibly challenging. You see first hand how the system treats people no matter what kind of person they are or were before being incarcerated. No matter how much remorse they have for their actions. You see how they are judged by others no matter the circumstances…As I’ve been communicating with him and hearing about some of the individuals he’s with I’ve told him so many times that so many of these people sound like they just need OT and how much they would benefit from it…It’s not something that’s easy for me to talk about because of the judgment that is placed by others. I feel so grateful that my husband and I have a great support system. But I know a lot of these individuals do not.
